Three Biology and Laboratorial Research students from Avans are working for the next six months on OHPACT-related projects under the supervision of teachers with OHPACT. Within this part of the curriculum of the bachelor education, project based learning is essential.

Who am I?
I am Jens Verhoeve. I am 20 years old. I live in Made which is a small village near Breda, my hobbies are gaming and partying with friends.
What subject will I be focussing on this semester? What will I be researching?
I will be focussing on bioinformatics and will be researching the annotations of virus DNA. Using different pipelines.
What do I want to do with this in the future?
I want to combine wet lab with dry lab

Who am I?
My name is Julia, I’m originally from Brazil and currently live in Breda as an exchange student. I enjoy spending time with my friends, as well as gardening and knitting.
What subject will I be focussing on this semester? What will I be researching?
I will be comparing two viral annotation pipelines to determine the easiest or better one.
What do I want to do with this in the future?
Possibly a masters, but mostly getting better at bioinformatics.
What would I like to learn?
Genetic bioinformatics.

I am Yke Stockman, originally from Zeeland but currently living in Breda together with my girlfriend. I enjoy going out for walks in the forest and cooking for friends.
What subject will I be focussing on this semester? What will I be researching?
Creating a bioinformatic pipeline for species identification and abundance estimation in mosquito sample pools.
What do I want to do with this in the future?
Get a better understanding of genetic research and maybe pursue a master study.
What would I like to learn?
Going more into depth in genetic bioinformatics
